"I’LL LEAVE THE LIGHT ON" So long…so long…So long since I have seen your face, feels like I’m torn in two Another day and I wonder where you are and where you might be going to You know I’m setting the table, you’re always welcome to stay I’ll leave the light on, I’ll leave the light on so you can finally find your way to my door I’ll leave the light on, I’ll leave the light on so you Can try to find the will so you won’t run away ‘cause all this time I want you to be home Another day and I wonder where you are Because I’m longing, longing, yearning, yearning, To see you, to see you, to hold you Sent out my letter’s to reach you, all had the message that read I’ll leave the light on, I’ll leave the light on so you can finally find your way to my door I’ll leave the light on, I’ll leave the light on so you Can try to find the will so you won’t run away ‘cause all this time I want you to be home Let’s run my love, I call and I can see you, calling out x2 I can see you calling out I’ll leave the light on, I’ll leave the light on so you can finally find your way to my door I’ll leave the light on, I’ll leave the light on so you Can try to find the will so you won’t run away ‘cause all this time I want you to be home I’ve seen you walk, I see you walk ‘round the corner, You don’t know where you are I hear you talk, I’ve seen you cry in the dust You wonder where you are You wonder where you might sleep And what you want is beyond your reaching To the sale on the corner, receiving your gratuity To the rich man and the poor man, the lovely and the ugly To the emotional disorder and self obsession vanity To the drunkard and the lawyer, don’t want you to bleed for your insanity To the insta-me performer and what you only want people to see The academic and illiterate, admired, despised, everything between To the greedy and the generous, the flamboyant and the ordinary I’ll leave the light on, I’ll leave the light on so you can finally find your way to my door

Trapeze 04:31
"Trapeze" Suddenly, we’re tumbling toward Uncertainty, we’re instinctively ripcord As we’re hurtling, meteoric pace So please turn to me and tell me all your wants With urgency and clarity we launch On this journey and the surging storms I won’t leave if that’s what you want I’ll go where you go I won’t leave you a broken heart I will hold you Currently, electrically we bond So statically, the extremities respond Through the fingers and this fleeting grasp I won’t leave if that’s what you want I’ll go where you go I won’t leave you a broken heart I will hold you Fly trapeze, like a cannonball from this pedestal To the nth degree, reaching for the stars with these broken parts Could’ve been you, could’ve been me Pulling on the levers of the ropes of my heart What if it is you, counter intuitively Spinning all the needles on the speedometer Desperately, you’ve got to just believe we are For eternity, as we’re flying through the stars As we’re hurtling, meteoric pace I won’t leave if that’s what you want I’ll go where you go I won’t leave you a broken heart I will hold you I will hold you

"After I am gone" Hey, there’s only so much time And if we let go of our love What will it profit us If we willing cast aside The other to the time of yore What will it profit us The past it lies awake We’re holding storms captured in lightning rods Because I’ll say the other is to blame Reflection in the mirror is not so sure Because after I am gone There will be no repeats Because time is marching on Hold back the jaws of defeat Cast me not away tonight Don’t run from me Cast me not away tonight Don’t run away Cast me not away tonight Don’t run, don’t run from me Hey, will we just throw away The remnants of our bond What will it profit us If we consign to history And the connection of who we are What will it profit us Before we reach the end Will we strip it down to the bare bones Because soon the chances fade away Will we make amends under the sun Son Because after I am gone There will be no repeats Because time is marching on Hold back the jaws of defeat

"ALL’S WELL DOWN ORWELL’S WELL (YOU’LL MAKE A FRIEND OUT OF ME)" I’m simple Simon and simple-minded, you want me on my knees to you And who’s deciding what’s redefined, of what you can think and speak ‘Cause you know, if truth be told, you won’t save the day If I’m on my knees you’ll make a friend out of me As long as I’ll be siamese to what you want And all I see are systems proselytising They cancel and they shut down, close the door Dystopian dancing, image enhancing, coming to a town near you Staying silent…coming to a town near you ‘Cause you know, if truth be told, you won’t save the day If I’m on my knees you’ll make a friend out of me As long as I’ll be siamese to what you want And all I see are systems proselytising They cancel and they shut down and they close the door Social media armchair commentary, I don’t attend that university of thought Who controls the narrative and the way society can think and speak? Is this what you want, is it what you want? I believe we’re walking, I believe we’re sliding down Slopes we don’t, quite know the results hmmm I’ll die on my feet rather than living on my knees I will not appease to what you want And I believe you’ll make a friend out of me As long as I’ll be siamese to what you want And all I see are systems proselytising They cancel and they shut down and they close the door And I believe you’ll make a friend out of me What if we then disagree then what’s what? Is there a freedom of expression anymore Or is it on the way out the door What’s your thoughts, what’s your thoughts Or would you not rather say?

So near to my heart of destitution If I could feel less small And lift my voice in revolution Desire that I might stand up and say enough’s enough Social media diaspora, alright, it’s alright Part of me loves the machine, alright, it’s alright The working-classes are disadvantaged, alright, it’s alright The under-classes are on their asses, alright, it’s alright If I turn away from my brother as he goes under And if I drown the same way, can I find an equalizing love... So near to my heart with restitution And now I’ve seen so much I close my eyes and dream a future Desire that I might stand up and say enough’s enough Are there freedom songs behind a prison wire? x2 So near to my heart with restitution If I could feel less small And lift my voice in revolution Desire that I might stand up and say enough’s enough

"People Marching" Watching, waiting here…shall I linger more At a distance, no foul or harm Or to choose the risk of loss and find resolve I can see people marching, I can hear freedom calling But the highway always seems very long Does anybody hear wisdom call anymore I will be by your side…so you will not be alone When you go through the deep I’ll be with you in difficult and trying times I can see people marching, I can see freedom falling, I can hear wisdom calling But the highway always seems very long I can see people marching, I can see freedom falling, I can hear wisdom calling But the highway always seems very long Does anybody hear wisdom call anymore Won’t you take care of me Won’t you take care of me Won’t you take care of me Don’t let go

Yeshua 04:20
"YESHUA" Those kind of eyes will reach you Touching fears, relieve the sorrow Should I reach out to you? Step my feet upon the waters? Yeshua, Yeshua Pull me from beneath the water Stepping out upon the sea I find my feet upon the rock But who knew that the coming storm Would have me fall under the water Yeshua, Yeshua Pull me from beneath the water Pull me from beneath Will you lift me up, you can lift me up and Place my feet upon the rock, upon the rock I believed for so long, that in your eyes I was nought Now I see I was so wrong, and that in your eyes I was more Yeshua, Yeshua Pull me from beneath the water Pull me from beneath Will you lift me up, you can lift me up and Place my feet upon the rock, you can make it so

Synopsis:
"I'll Leave The Light On"
Based on the parable of the prodigal son from the gospel of Luke 15:11-32. The song is sung from the perspective of the father in the story and places emphasis on the interpretation that we are all prodigals. It is the longest song on the album and probably my favourite.

"Trapeze"
The song was written in 2018 but seems way more relevant in 2022. It's about uncertainty and realising that so many things are out of our control, but also that God is there. The chorus is sung from the perspective of God, saying He is always with me.

"After I Am Gone"
It is about an estranged relationship between a father and his son. Lyrically the song is sung from the perspective of the father who regrets the situation and longs for a renewed relationship with his son. The first pre-chorus show's it is a long feud and the father blames the son, whilst doubt of this lingers in his heart..."The past it lies awake, we're holding storms captured in lightning rods, because I'll say the other is to blame, reflection in the mirror is not so sure..." The song is about a father and son I know well (not me).

"Everybody Let Your Hair Down"
The theme is about getting on board the gospel train and celebrating the freedom forthwith. The inspiration for this song comes from the classic "People Get Ready" by The Impressions and Bruce Springsteen's "Land of Hope and Dreams" (2001 live from NYC version, not studio version).

"All's Well Down Orwell's Well"
It's about big brother but more so about one way narratives and pressure to align with that narrative or face consequences of cancellation. Freedom of speech and freedom of thought. Who decides? You do, or someone else will.

"Saviour"
It would be the 1st song on Side 2 if it was available on vinyl. I wrote this about Jesus Christ and who I think he is.

"Equalizing Love"
With so much going on in the world, it's easy to feel that everything is out of our control and some things definitely are. There are people and organisations that wield power selfishly and most of us as the "little guy" who bother to be aware of what's' going on around us, are increasing afraid to speak out. Let's face it, none of us are inherently good except God. The first line of the chorus says "You're so near, to my heart of destitution" We've got to remember that.

"People Marching"
Standing up for what is right. It's hard and potentially lonely. I also see people taking sides in what they believe is right and society is suffering for it. Freedom is disappearing, that much is obvious. Wisdom...you don't hear that word used so often nowadays. In the book of Proverbs, Wisdom calls out to the people "Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square; on top of the wall she cries out at the city gate she makes her speech..." We can all think we are wise in our own eyes, but that is not wisdom. Do we really want wisdom? It seems it is needed now more than ever.

"Yeshua"
Based on the book of Matthew's account of Jesus walking on water and his disciple Peter walking on water to meet Jesus but sinking as he saw a coming storm. Faith and fear colliding. This was the most straight forward song to record for the album. We recorded the parts and the song mixed itself. We didn't have to any mixing at all.

"Mattina"
Tri-lingual song. We are waiting for something...I think it is a Someone...

The lyrics best describe this song:

"We are waking up to this half-light
As we’re waiting for the dawn
Feel the light burst

Amore Constante Mattina Buon Dio

Spring embrace the light
Feel its warm touch
As we’re waiting for the dawn
Feel the light burst

Amore Constante Mattina Buon Dio

It feels better when you’re by my side
Living in the moment state of mind
We’re soaring like eagles
Soar high
Your faith in me will never be denied
Living in the moment captured light
We’re soaring like eagles
Once more

Morena Pumau Waiata Aroha Runga Rawa

It feels better when you’re by my side
Living in the moment state of mind
We’re soaring like eagles
Soar high
Your faith in me will never be denied
Living in the moment captured light
We’re soaring like eagles
Once more"
